History of the Department: The Department of “Geography and Economic Basics of Knowledge” is one of the teams with great scientific and pedagogical potential in the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Jizzakh State Pedagogical University. Within the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Jizzakh State Pedagogical University, the directions 5110500 – Geography teaching methodology, 60111000 – Basics of geography and economic knowledge and 70111001 – Exact and natural science teaching methodology (Geography) are available in secondary schools, colleges and for academic lyceums, it prepares highly educated pedagogic personnel with bachelor’s and master’s academic degrees in geography teaching methodology specialty. The Department of Basics of Geography and Economic Knowledge, which prepares specialists in this field, was originally established in 1991 under the name of the Department of Basics of Natural Science within the Faculty of Pedagogy. Candidate of geography sciences, associate professor N. Ismatov was appointed as its principal. In the 1992-1993 academic year, a biology-geography specialty was opened in the Faculty of Pedagogy, and a Geography-Ecology Department was established on the basis of the Department of Basics of Natural Science. At that time, the department had Ph.D., Assoc. N. Ismatov – director, Ph.D. K. Kurbanov worked as an associate professor, Y. Usmanov and S. Usmonova worked as senior teachers, and K. Hakimov worked as a teacher. Later, starting from 1996, instead of the biology-geography major, students majoring in geography and the basics of economic knowledge were accepted. In 2004, the geography education branch was separated as a separate department and it was joined by Dr. Ph.D., Assoc. N. Ismatov, later Ph.D., Assoc. Sh.Khidirov was the head of the department. At that time, the department had two departments: Geography and the basics of economic knowledge (head of the department, Ph.D., associate professor N. Ismatov) and Regional geography and its teaching methodology (department head, Ph.D., associate professor K. Kurbanov). Over the past years, the areas of specialization have changed several times. 1993-1996 biology-geography, 1996-1999 Basics of geography and economic knowledge, 2000-2003 years geography, 2004-2010 years Basics of geography and economic knowledge, since 2011 Geography teaching methodology, since 2021 again Geography and students majoring in the basics of economic knowledge are being accepted. During this period, the number of professors and teachers of the department also expanded. Candidate of technical sciences, associate professor B. Rahmonov, Ph.D. N. Karshiboyeva, Ph.D. Sh. Khidirov, Ph.D., associate professor F. Kholiyev, Ph.D. B. Botirov and others worked. Currently, there are 14 professors working in the department. 6 of them have academic degrees. The indicator of scientific potential is 42.8%. Among them, 1 associate professor (M. G’odalov), 5 candidates of science and doctors of philosophy (PhD) (K. Khakimov, M. Kamolov, O. Adilova, S. Haydarova), 2 senior teachers ( A. Gapparov, Z. Toshboev) and 6 teachers (G. Kholdorova, M. Usmonov, J. Kholmirzaev, B. Khakimov, N. Kasimov, G. Jonzokova) are working.
Cooperation of the Department: In order to develop scientific and educational processes and cooperation in the department, he established cooperation relations with the State University of Bashkortostan of Russia and Amsterdam University of the Netherlands. In particular, 1 of our students (Azimova Sayyora) in 2018-2020, and 3 students in 2020-2022 (Oralov Sardor, Kholbotaev Ghiyos and Suyunov Dilshod) are in the master’s degree in hydrology and geography at Bashkir State University. Currently Azimova Sayyora is studying in the 2nd year of doctoral studies at Bashkir State University. The scientific supervisor is Professor Gareev Aufar Minnigazimovich, Doctor of Geographical sciences. Bashkir State University Professor Gareev Aufar Minnigazimovich has been giving lectures to our students online and offline for the last 5 years. On November 10, 2021, Professor Jan Rath of Amsterdam University of the Netherlands organized a webinar seminar on the topic “Academic research: between knowledge-driven and applied research” for professors and teachers of our department.
